Page 4 - Purse playsets
The purse playsets are similar to old Polly Pocket in many ways- they also fold up. However these are all shaped as bags, and have tiny little houses that fold inside and then can be spread as a play ground. The bottom of the case reads "© 1989 Lewis Galoob toys, INC, Made In China". A closed case measures from the widest parts about 5 inches in length, two inches in thickness and about 4,5 inches in height, not including the handle.
There are two types of cases, as seen in a picture below. Type 1, the blue purse, has a more rounded handle, small plastic hearts on each side and from one side, two walls can be folded down. The Dream Estate and the Show Ground were produced in this mold. The type 2 has a more square-shaped handle, and all four side-walls fold down. Fashion mall and School were produced this way.
Please note that although the colors of the stands have been marked here, each set could come with any colour stand from the color combo available (5 different colours were produced), as long as it was the right shape. So, when assembling a complete set, the color of the stand does not matter, but the shape does.
Set: School
Base: Yellow case with green handle, case type: 2.
Buildings: A purple school with a wing (green roof) that folds inside the main school, a theater, an art gallery (with a blue desk attached with paint supplies, and a sticker with stacks of books on the wall), a purple rain-cover for watching basketball games. A yellow gate that states "Cutie High" (you can seen this on the back fall, when walls are folded down it becomes the entry gateway). All the buildings are attached to tiny holes inside the case. When fitted on their place and the wing of the school is pushed inside, it can neatly be folded to a case.
Colt or Kid: Pants suit kid - hot pink hair on pigtails, pink shirt with CC-text, dark blue pants, pink shoes. See picture
Stand: Round with two holes (colours spotted in MIB: purple)
Brush: standard
Additional notes: In the clip the case is shown with an
American flag on top of the schoolhouse (on the yellow turret). However, at least in playsets available to Finland this has probably been removed originally. Galoob also used the exactly same case and buildings in a line called "Tiny Troll Town"- the purse is exactly the same but only has the Troll Town stickers outside, and the interior is the same except for the yellow gate: that states "troll high" instead of "Cutie High". The box has a picture of a purple colt with yellow hair, but the case actually came with a doll. See box picture front view. Instruction sheet scan. Set: Fashion Mall
Base: Pink case with light pink handle, case type: 2.
Buildings: A transparent mall with aqua roof and a wing that is pushed inside the main building when case is closed. A green snacks-stand with a stripy roof, "Beth's Boutique" (See-through with stripy roof), "Gigi's Gift Shop" (pink with purple roof), and a little blue fountain. Also one bush is a part that can be taken off. All the buildings (+ the fountain and the bush) are attached to tiny holes inside the case. When fitted on their place and the wing of the mall is pushed inside, it can neatly be folded to a case to be carried easily.
Colt or Kid: A pants suit kid, pink pants, yellow shirt with CC-text, purple hair on pigtails, dark pink shoes.
Stand: round with two holes (purple sighted)
Brush: standard
Additional notes: In the clip the bush is shown attached on the wall that folds down, but in all cases I've seen the bush is on the bottom of the case instead of the wall. Prototype, probably. Also see here pictures of the original packaging box; Front view. As you can see, the kid and the case pictured are different from the actual product. Set: Dream Estate
Base: Blue case with light pink handle, case type: 1.
Buildings: A purple manor with hot pink roof (the roof is not solid, see picture) and a purple wing that can fold inside the manor. A pink transparent gazebo, a blue wishing well with a pink roof (purple stickers on top) and coulds (/white bushes?) on the sides. A blue barn with a half of the roof solid white, the other half just bars of blue plastic. A yellow scarecrow.
All the buildings (+ the scarecrow) are attached to tiny holes inside the case. When fitted on their places and the wing of the manor is pushed inside, it can neatly be folded to a case to be carried easily.
Colt or Kid: Kid with yellow swimsuit, aqua hair, aqua CC-letters on chest. Identical to the kid in "Hearts Collection".
Stand: Square (colours sighted on MIB; hot pink)
Brush: standard
Additional notes: In the clip on the back of box the case is actually shown purple with purple handle, and the barn is shown with a purple solid roof instead of white. This may be either a prototype, a trick of light or actual variation. Kid shown on the front of the box has light green hair. Also see here pictures of the original packaging box; Front view, back view and the packaging inside the box. Instruction sheet scan. Thank you for the wonderful Cirrusrose for the scan!
Set: Show Ground
Base: Purple case with pink handle, case type: 1.
Buildings: The central building is basically a three roofs side by side on several legs and all attached to each other, forming some kind of a show ground cover with legs in corners. Unlike others this parlor fills the entire bottom of the case and has no wings that could be pushed inside the main building. The side parts have white roof, the central has purple roof. Also included is a series of white fences and gates for jumping, a pink barn with yellow roof and a yellow gypsy-style cart with purple roof that can be lifted up.
Colt or Kid: Swim suit kid: blue swim suit, pink hair, pink shoes. Oddly, one would think that a colt would have come with this set: an aqua colt with purple hair is shown on clip and the box itself features an aqau colt with pink and purple hair. See picture
Stand: Square (colours sighted in MIB: blue)
Brush: Standard
Additional notes: The case in the clip is very different from the actual set. It is presented blue instead of purple. I cannot confirm if this is due a prototype or country variation. See box picture front view. Instruction sheet scan.
